PTO Board Elections 2012-13
Elections for Vista PTO Board for the school year 2012-13 were held successfully on Oct 22, 2012 at the school campus.
The turn-out was great and we appreciate members for their zeal, enthusiasm and participation. Voting was conducted thru ballot.
Nominees were:
- For President: Amy Yearout / Jayme Pyle
- For Vice President: Nora Rivera / Alicia Weston Brown
- For Treasurer: Rachelle Wilson / Graciela Ramirez
Winners via majority vote are as follows:

Vista Academy of Garland - PTO would like to announce the members who have been nominated to serve on the PTO Board for the year 2012-13 school year. Elections will take place Monday, October 22, 2012 at our school campus at 7 pm.
Per PTO By-Laws, nominations will be accepted from the school community anytime through October 22, 2012 in writing/email or from the floor the day of meeting before voting takes place. As noted, a person may nominate his/herself or a member of the general school community may submit a person for consideration. All possible nominees will be contacted by the nominating committee to ensure understanding of the role and determine final interest level. Nominees must be a PTO member (it is never to late to join) and only members present on election day are eligible to vote. Current nominees are as follows:
For President: Amy Yearout / Jayme Pyle
For Vice President: Nora Rivera / Alicia Weston Brown
For Treasurer: Rachelle Wilson / Edith Garcia

- PTO Garage sale today was a great success and with the help of staff and parents we were able to raise $651.75. Thanks to each and everyone involved.

- PTO April monthly meeting will be held at the Garland Campus on April 2nd, 2012 @ 4:30 pm.
- PTO March monthly meeting held @ 4:30 pm.
- PTO monthly meeting @ 4:30pm on Dec 5th, followed by Pizza between 5:30 - 6:30pm.
- Vista Academy had their Thanksgiving lunch on Tuesday 11/22. Thanks to all parents and grand-parents who graced the occasion.
- PTO Vista has few Positions Open – Secretary of the Board, Fundraising Co-Chair, Lunch Helper, and Teacher Appreciation Chair. Please feel free to apply - Contact ptovistagarland@yahoo.com or stop by at the school front desk and ask for Catherine Perez.
- Join PTO for Pizza! December 5 @ 5:30-6:30 following the 4:30 Monthly Meeting
- Book Fair @ Barnes & Noble – Sun Dec 11, 1pm-4pm. There will be a drawing for a Gift Card.
- Two $25 Wal-mart gift cards were awarded Tuesday 11/1 in the morning assembly to two students through drawing for their non-academic performance (behavior and leadership) during the month of October. This event will continue every month.
- Two $25 Wal-mart gift cards were awarded to two teachers through drawing to honor their commitment and dedication. This event will also continue every month.
- Please join PTO fundraising efforts and participate in the $2 Free Dress on Tuesday, Nov.1st. We will be wearing LIME GREEN in support of Lymphoma. This fundraiser will be matched by the PTO and a Visa gift card will be bought with all proceeds from this Fundraiser going to Mrs. Richardson. As Many of you know Mrs. Richardson is one of our Middle School teacher's and she has been diagnosed with Barrick's Lymphoma. Please pray for her faster recovery......together we can do it.......... Personal checks and cash donations are welcome and these are tax deductible. Please write checks to Vista Academy of Garland PTO and do collect receipt from the front desk....... Please help us, help her!
- PTO Vista Garland will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday Nov 7th, at 4:30 PM at the Garland campus. We encourage all parents to attend our PTO monthly meetings for the latest and greatest - Your feed back, observations, suggestions and recommendations are valuable - togather we can improve and make a difference.......... If you have suggestion/feedback and cannot make it to the meeting please drop a note for the PTO at the front desk. We humbly request you to please spread the word around and encourage other parents to join Vista PTO.... We are also looking for volunteers to assist us in various functional areas. If you are interested please furnish your email and phone at the front desk.

- Dec 13: 2nd and 3rd grade visits Dallas Children's Theater Production - Madeline's Christmas.
- Dec 16: Early dismissal at 12pm.
- Dec 19-Jan 2: Christmas break.

- PTO will do their first six weeks teacher's appreciation event to honor our Vista Teachers on Thursday 10/13 @ 5:30pm.
- PTO membership drive, join PTO by October 31, top 2 classes that will enroll the most will get ice cream party.
- Going forward free dress day will be twice a month - Dates to be decided.
- Join PTO for Pizza Meet & Greet on Monday November 7 following the monthly PTO meeting. PTO meeting from 4:30pm - 5:30pm and Meet & Greet will be from 5:45pm - 6:45pm. PTO will provide pizza and there will be drinks and snacks for purchase.
