Announce the presence of a Quorum.

  1. May 2012 minutes not approved, Secretary has not sent them out.
  2. Position descriptions to be sent to attendees – Amy will send that out via email.
  3. School Spirit Items – Rita Brennan has information that she collected from last school year
  4. Display My Art Fundraiser – Would like to run this one again. Maybe early spring, beginning of February.
  5. Cookie Dough – Did not get a great response from parents, may skip this year.
  6. Butter Braids – Amy will look into and talk with Jayme about details.
  7. Silent Auction – Would like to do something at Fall/Thanksgiving time. When parents are at school for event.
  8. Fall Carnival – Amy will talk to Elizabeth Harris about some of her ideas that she gave last year.
  9. Facebook Page – Need to delete the old page, it’s still open.  All board members need to be listed as ADMIN on new Facebook Group so updates can be made by board.  Amy will get information from Junaid.
  10. 1.    Membership and posting of open positions – Amy will send home Membership forms and information about the open positions. Voting for new positions will be at next meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.

  1. Catherine Duchow suggested a website to be created for parents to have accessible access to print forms such as homework sheets, permission slips, spelling words, etc.
  2. Parent Directory – Olga Loya suggested a parent directory be supplied to parents giving a choice of a book or online directory; parents who wish to have their contact information listed will sign a form consenting..
  3. Pot Luck – Rita Brennan suggested for parents to host a Pot Luck dinner to raise money for school
  4. Community Coffee – Olga Loya suggested doing the community coffee cash for schools program, UPCs found on their products give cash back to schools -  Mrs. Loya will look for more detailed info

  2. Spirit Shop for next school year – Amy has contacted the contact person for fundraiser and is in progress; more info to come
  3. School Supply pack – teachers working on finalizing supply list; free dress pass given to each student who purchased school supply pack  
  4. Display My Art Fundraiser – art work samples set up in school’s front office; April 20th is due date for orders.
  5. Facebook Page – Group has been created, no longer an agenda issue.
  6. Carnival for the Fall –  Elizabeth Harris will help.
  7. Memorial Day – Cards to Troops, Amy to follow up with Jayme.
  8. Elmo purchase – PTO purchased an Elmo projector for school use. 
  9. Rummage Sale - Lynn Clements suggested to start promoting publicity for the Rummage Sale and request item donations, Nancy will post on next School Newsletter.
  10. Fast Pass for parking lot, tabled until Catherine can speak to Mr. Gillis, possibly something we can start for next school year.
  11. PTO url has been corrected on FB, Website, Agenda and Minutes, no longer an agenda issue.

  1. Feb 2012 minutes approved.
  2. Lynn Clements requested about adding Vista to her Tom Thumb Good Neighbor card. Checking with Jayme, need to have Tax ID for their form.
  3. Elizabeth Harris asked if we could add the meeting information to the school newsletter.
  4. Garage Sale Saturday May19th 7am to 2pm.
  5. Grade Performances and Student of the Month Certificates during PTO meetings to start next school year.
  6. Parking lot – GPD will show up at random, no longer an agenda issue.
  7. Lost and Found items will be donated to the garage sale.
  8. Fast Pass for parking lot, tabled until Catherine can speak to Mr. Gillis, possibly something we can start for next school year.
  9. Website to replace blog – Amy to look into free sites. When you Google PTO the old blog comes up and parents are getting confused. Junaid responded, it was a typo about the PTO url and it will be corrected on blog, agenda, minutes and FB page.
  10. Spirit Shop for next school year – Amy will continue to look into.
  11. School Supply pack – we will pre-sell these for next school year. Ms Pruett will talk to the other teachers about getting their supply lists to us.
  12. Display My Art Fundraiser – Amy will get packets ordered.
  13. Bidding for Good – Not renewing membership. Silent Auction at Spring Sing and Thanksgiving Feast moving forward.
  14. Ms Pruett suggested all fliers going home to parents be sent home once a week in folders for next year.
  15. Computers for Education Fundraiser – Catherine will get it together and send home with the students before Spring Break
  16. Facebook Page – Create Group instead so the posts show up on members news feed. Junaid will take care of it. 
  17. Carnival for the Fall – Tabled until April Meeting, Elizabeth Harris will help.
  18. Memorial Day – Cards to Troops.
  19. Free Dress – 2 per month in April and May.
  20. Field Day – May 30th – Tentatively scheduled

  2. Membership drive – no longer carry forward item
  3. Garage sale – church approval, ongoing.
  4. Set dates for grade performances, need to have teachers approve. Possibly March pep rally and Spring Sing? Tabled until we talk to teachers.
  5. PTO to give student of the month certificate at the meeting.
  6. Parking Lot – people are not courteous, Catherine to address with Mr. Gillis.
  7. Attending to the lost & found.
  8. Fast pass in front to see if parents want to pick up, will auction to highest bidder. 10-12 passes.  Catherine will talk to Mr. Gillis.
  9. Website to replace Blog – Remind 101/School rack, websites that are used by middle school. Junaid to check info.
  10. Spirit Shop info- Pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, all personalized with VISTA. Amy found pencils, not able to find erasers, pencil sharpeners, book marks, etc. Amy will continue to search for product as well as yard signs and vinyl stickers. Do we want to buy now or wait until we have more product information then have it set up for next year? Vista Logo pencils, etc for the kids school supplies?
  11. Add to agenda for next month, school supply packs that PTO will put together and sell.
  12. Display My Art Fundraiser – Catherine to talk to Ms Ward.
  13. Bidding for Good- Tabled, renew? If we do it again, we need help!!
  14. Valentines Fundraiser- going well. Amy will help distribute at school.
  15. Computers for Education Fundraiser – Booklet cover and postcard, $0.50 per returned card. Catherine has the information.
  16. Star Testing T-shirts – Ms Pruett asked the PTO to help cover the T or to help the students who can’t afford. 130 students need to take it. PTO will notify Ms Pruett by the end of February.
  17. Facebook page – Change to Group. Junaid to change.
  18. Carnival – FALL. Will discuss more at March meeting.
  19. Nancy Kipriotis to be appointed to Secretary.
  20. PTO meeting times will revert back to 4:30pm first Monday of every month.

ACTION ITEMS/CARRIED FORWARD ITEMS
  1. PTO presented a $1000.00 check to Mrs. Richardson.
  2. Parking Lot Issue - There was a car accident last month. PTO will talk with school administration and see about a notice sent out to parents reminding them to please follow carpool etiquette.
  3. Consider auctioning off a front row parking pass at pick-up. Speed lane/express lane?
  4. Discussed reasons for low turn-out at PTO meetings. a) May be having meetings every other month and not every month. b) Consider getting a speaker c) Consider providing childcare at our meetings to get more parents there. A parent brought up the fact that it’s hard to get to a meeting if you have children. d) Instead of paper fliers/information going home could the PTO email information instead. Mrs. Smith provided two websites that she has used and likes them both.
  5. For Auction: possible suggestions of items that have worked well at other schools and they were: principal for a day, queen for a day, teachers have lunch with a student, theme days, name the room, etc.
  6. Discussed having a PTO spirit shop and sell pencils, erasers, rulers, stickers, etc. -Vista Print might be an option for doing this. Mrs. Hearn said this is what her kid’s last school did and it seemed successful. Our problem would be finding someone that would volunteer to do this.
  7. Discussed the PTO's goals of trying to get hopefully 1 or 2 Elmo's. Then discussed what an Elmo is...parents agreed upon.
  8. Box Tops raised $455 got a check in the mail.
  9. Meeting adjourned and PTO President thanked both parents and teachers for attending the meeting and for all the wonderful ideas.
  10. In 2012, PTO will have January and February meetings @ 7pm to accommodate working parents. We hope to have better attendance. If not, we will move the meetings back to 4:30pm starting March 2012.
  11. Discussed how Responsive Ed can incorporate PTO webpage on the respective school website.

  1. November meeting minutes are approved
  2. In 2012, PTO will have January and February meetings @ 7pm to accommodate working parents.  We hope to have better attendance.  If not, we will move the meetings back to 4:30pm starting March 2012.
  3. Mrs. Richardson Fundraiser – Gift Card around $700-$800
  4. Open Positions.  Amy Lumpkin can help with Pickles & Pops as well as Barnes & Noble
  5. Monthly $25 Gift cards to students will continue, based on behavior nominated by teachers along with 2 $25 gift cards to teachers.
  6. Cookie Dough – most sold by Cameron, prize to him $125 Wal-Mart gift card.
  7. Progress on Auction – Raised $700.  Will run again from Dec 12-Dec 18. Catherine will ship items to winners. We need to advertise.
  8. Mr. Davis would like to hear from us to get suggestions on how the school can update their website and have links to the PTO for our campus.
  9. Barnes & Noble event – Cancelled, unable to get the date we requested.
  10. Treasurer Report – PTO is now a 501 c(3) registered organization. The process is complete with IRS and State of Texas.
  11. PTO will raise funds for the document projector Almo.
  12. An audit of PTO account is needed. 
  13. Cookie Dough left over – Need to post on website and Facebook.  Also let teachers know.  Walnut Choc Chunk – 3, Chocolate Chunk 3, M&M Candies – 1, White Chocolate Macadamia – 2, Triple Chocolate – 3
